We supported one of the big Dutch omnichannel retailers in setting up a cohesive, automated, and scalable data ingestion framework in GCP cloud that could handle the variety and volume of data with ease. During the years the growth in data maturity resulted in the presence of a wide variety of data sources. While a strength, it also introduced significant inefficiencies and barriers to rapid data utilization. The on premise data warehouse, with an old ETL framework, faced challenges to perform data feeding and processing.

Solution:

In the spirit of driving value, innovation and progress, we joined the data team on a journey to craft a completely new data ingestion framework by applying best practices from the market using our DataBoat backend. Acknowledging the complexities and challenges the team has to navigate between, we set our sights on creating a solution that embodies flexibility and embraces automation at its core while making use of the latest data engineering tools.

Integration with Modern Data Engineering Tools: We ensured that our framework not only supports small datasets, but using the same code it's possible to scale horizontally with just a flag in the parameter to run a in a different and big computer capacity engine This approach significantly enhances performance and prepares De Bijenkorf for future technological innovations.
